We're planning to put down wood flooring in the dining room to match the rest of the downstairs (natural engineered wood flooring) instead of the CRAZY white carpet that's currently in there. Seriously, who puts WHITE carpet in a dining room??? Then, at some point, I'd like to paint the room and get an area rug (maybe) for under the table, and a new light fixture, since the old one is UGH (aka cheap/ugly/hot/too bright).

Our wood. We also have pulled out the horrible astroturf/outdoor carpet stuff they put in the screened-in porch. I don't know how many years it's been there, but there's that many years of MOLD built up on the floor. Or there was, making it very sticky to walk on. AJ pulled out the carpet and got rid of the spiders/buggies and we sprayed and swept it out. We're hoping it will dry out in a couple of days so we can put in our beautiful tiles that we bought today. We have charcoaly grey large tiles, and a few accent tiles that are white/stone colored with a metallic flower type piece in the center. They're really pretty, and the center part of the small tile picks up the color of the larger tiles.

AJ planned the pattern all out (with the idea that started it coming from me, thank you very much!). I might scan in the design he drew out on graph paper (to scale) if I really just find myself with too much time on my hands...otherwise, you can look at the pix I'll post after it's done. Let me know what you think!

Ooooohhhh very excited to see what it will look like! Thanks for posting before pics. The tiles liik very pretty, and I love a wood floor! I say skip the area rug until your kids stop throwing food. Much easier to clean the wood floor.
Pretty tile but buying an area rug, really??? You mean AJ didn't go overboard on buying Turkish carpets like Vin??? I was buying new pillows for our couch this weekend and asked Vin if he was wanting to put in the same T.C. that we had in our living room in Eulenbis so I could figure out what colors to get and he said that one or maybe even the one he bought on his last trip that he left in the box. I'd forgotten that he'd bought another besides the 3 other HUGE ones we have! Eek! If I could *blink* one to you, I would. ;)
house renovations are fun! thanks for sharing the before pictures...i thin it will look great when its done. We love wood floors around here too...:)
