Potty Training Success, and random pix...

OK, so I just want everyone to know that Josh only had one accident today, and it was a poopy one...not exactly a big deal...we're focusing on peeing in the potty and keeping our pants dry first. He had on underwear or pull-ups all day and the only incident (even during his nap!!) was when we were out, he pooped in his pull-ups! I am SO EXCITED!!!! And proud! Hopefully it keeps up. We'll see if tomorrow goes as well...

YAY FOR JOSH!!!!

FINALLY RECONNECTED TO THE WORLD!!

So Sunday, our computer died. I mean, like it wouldn't reboot. SAD! And frustrating. Also, AJ cut his leg open with a hatchet, but it wasn't too bad. The next day AJ went to sick call and got a couple of stitches and we took the sad, dead computer to Best Buy to see if they could retrieve our files and pictures off the hard drive. Haven't heard anything from them yet, but hopefully they were able to pull our stuff off...I'm so thankful we bought our external hardrive this summer and started copying pix onto it! We've really only lost about a month's worth of pix, I guess, but included in those are our Halloween/pumpkin pix. I REALLY hope we can get them back!
Anyway, today AJ had off for Veteran's Day and he went and bought us a new desktop computer, and we're SO EXCITED to be technological and stuff again. We feel so blessed to be able to do that.
We also had a birthday party today. Our friend, Sydney, had her party today, and we went to the park, then back to her house to have lunch and play. Josh seemed to have fun, although he went through two pairs of underwear while we were there. Oh, well. He's gone at least once, maybe twice since he got up from nap, and has kept his pants dry since then, too. YAY!! Thanks to everyone for their encouraging notes and also for the advice...I really appreciate it!
I'll try to post some pix tomorrow, if I have time. I'm loving having a computer again!

I hate potty training.

I decided the last two posts sound way too upbeat, so I thought I'd just post this comment: I HATE POTTY TRAINING, PEE, AND TWO-YEAR-OLD STUBBORNNESS!!!!!!!! I really want AJ to come home now...I need someone to take over for awhile...can I PLEASE have a break???

Potty training update

Just wanted to post an update on this morning...not fantastic news. He told me all morning that he didn't need to peepee...of course we sat on the potty a few times, anyway, but he never went. Then I got slightly distracted for a few min (on the phone), and when I decided it was time for nap, I went to put his diaper on, and he managed to slam the gate to his room on his finger (disobeying Mommy...) and I think that's when he peed in his underwear. So we didn't make it without an accident, and in fact, he never did pee in the potty this morning, but he was dry right up to the end. We'll try more after nap. He seems very tired today...kept laying on the floor and stuff...hope he's not getting sick!!

More later.

Potty Training

We started potty training today...like, for real. We've been touching on it, but not pushing it since before we moved from Germany. However, today Josh and I stayed home and I decided today was the day!

We started out by me stripping him (bottom half) and putting him in the living room on his little potty to eat breakfast. So he ate his way through 4 (frozen) waffles with syrup, and a banana, and nothing. Finally I let him get up, still naked on the bottom, and then a few minutes later, had to clean up his morning bowel movement off the floor. YUCK!!!! Nearly gave up after that, but I didn't. I knew we'd just have to do this again, so I just let him play awhile, then asked if he wanted to go sit on the potty, and he said yes, so I put him in the bathroom on the big potty, but with his little potty seat. I also gave him his juice. He had drunk already almost a full bottle of juice, so he drank the rest of that while we read a whole stack of books, then refilled it and waited...and waited...about 30-45 min. later, Daddy came home for lunch, and I took the opportunity to run upstairs to use the bathroom myself, and came back down to a celebration...Josh had finally gone! YAY! So I went and fixed him lunch, and let him sit in underwear at the coffee table while we had lunch...halfway through, he peed on the floor. ARGH!!
So I made him finish eating and couldn't wait to put him in his diaper for naptime!
However, when he woke up, we changed his poopy diaper, and then put him in the plastic underwear (I finally got smart!), and we went downstairs. I immediately put him on the potty, and we did like we did earlier, but with no results, even after Daddy came home. So eventually I just put the plastic underwear back on, and after awhile, he followed me upstairs, and I asked if he needed to go peepee and he said yes, so he sat on the potty for awhile, and then went!!!
We went and made dinner, and right before we sat down, I had AJ take him potty again, and again, he peed in the potty! Then he proceeded to EAT HIS DINNER and dessert and we went upstairs for bath. I sat him on the potty after undressing him, and he went AGAIN!! Then he took his "baf", not baba, and he let me brush his teeth and dry him off (almost) without fussing. My little baby boy is now a BIG BOY! I just hope he doesn't forget it all tomorrow.
I'll post an update tomorrow to let you know if this new knowledge/skill has made it through the night.

Our Newly Elected President

OK, I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to write here, but I feel like I want to write something, so I'm not sitting here passively watching what's going on.

Now, I voted...my husband, and, as far as I know, our families, voted. We did our part as far as being citizens. Did we do our part as Christians and prayer warriors??

I really think God is just giving our nation what they wanted. People have been crying out for change since the last election (when the same president was reelected...don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of George W.), and it just reminds me of the Israelites demanding a King, as opposed to following God as their King. God told them he didn't want that for them, but they kept demanding and complaining, so God gave them what they asked for. Maybe God's trying to teach us something????

Let me know your thoughts, please, and any additional comments, related or not to this, I would also love to see them!

I would also like to add, that Jesus told us to be respectful of our leaders...they aren't there by accident, God is in control. So I'm trying very hard to stand up for the respect of our leaders, even if I don't feel they've earned it...by being in a leadership position, they should have our respect automatically, if we are choosing to follow Christ's teaching.

OK, hope this wasn't too preachy...I try not to be that kind of person.

Halloween

So here are the Yoda pix. He was so adorable, and really had a TON of fun! He loved going to houses with Sidney and knocking and saying "trick-or-treat" and then picking out his candy. Everyone really seemed to enjoy him, too. Sidney, seemed ok until she saw Josh, and then she got this look on her face that said, "I really don't know what's going on with this boy, but he's a little too weird for me. Please make him go home, Mom!" It was funny! Josh was oblivious, and talked for her at every house, and even helped her get her candy and put it in her bucket for her! Anyway, he had a blast, and we had so much fun watching him!

Sidney's still not quite sure about him...still examining him, and this was one of the later stops!
Hamming it up for the camera!
Riding in style

Posing. This disbelieving, bewildered look was on Sidney's face most of the evening

Oh, hold on...technical difficulties??

AJ's pumpkin...it got so many compliments last night! Doesn't it look awesome!!!
Before dressing, after makeup
All dressed
Let me just say, I don't know how he knew something was different, but he must have known, b/c he wouldn't take a nap at all...I tried several times, and even had given him two doses of medicine...he was completely hyper and happy until that evening...so this is a temper tantrum moment.
I love this picture. Such a cute defensive Yoda
Josh and the pumpkins on the porch
Josh had to hold his pumpkin
Carving pumpkins...he's showing his candle that goes in his pumpkin, which Mommy carved and scooped the guts out of, since he refused to touch it...he squirmed and fussed everytime he had to touch even the seeds!
However, once it was carved, cleaned up and lit, he LOVED his cyclops pumpkin...this pic is him leaning over to talk to it...and maybe try to give it a kiss, not sure.
